The PR-1 by JW Fishers is a highly sophisticated pinger receiver that can instantly find any pinger running between 3-97kHz. It may be used either as a diver-held receiver or from a boat.
It is simple to run the system. Divers scan the area after tuning the receiver to the desired pinger frequency. When the diver points in the direction of the pinger, the pinger is audibly heard over the earphone, and the LED light bar flashes to indicate that the pinger has been detected. The sensitivity of the receiver is then decreased, and the diver acquires a precise bearing on the pinger. By observing the compass installed above the receiver, the diver may establish the precise compass heading to the pinger.
As the diver approaches the pinger, the audio tone becomes louder and the light bar flashes more LEDs to indicate that the received signal is becoming stronger. If many pingers are active in the region, the diver can adjust the receiver tuning (illuminated digital readout) to the new frequency and repeat the aforementioned steps.

The receiver is powered by a nicad battery pack that can work for thirty hours without recharging. There are two chargers available. One charger is powered by 120 volts ac and the other by a 12 volts dc automobile or boat battery.
